About Us

 

Toastmasters International, the world-wide non-profit organization based in California, US provides opportunities for its 300,000 members spread across 130 countries, to develop their communication and leadership effectiveness.

 

The Toastmasters movement witnessed a phenomenal growth in Qatar which has reached over 1,500 members and more than 44 clubs over the past years. The influx of this growth inline to Qatar vision 2030 paved way for a new Division, named Division Q.

 

The letter 'Q' stands for Qatar. The charter Division Q governor, Eng. Shyam Sundar, said “the creation of the new Division bears witness to the unprecedented growth of Toastmasters in Qatar.” It augurs well for current and future members as they will be assured of greater opportunities in applying and honing their communication and leadership skills.

 

Qatar the host country of FIFA 2022 is taking bold and unprecedented steps in creating great leaders and communicators. Toastmasters movement in Qatar is aligned with the same vision and is very much thrilled to contribute.

 

 

Division Q is under the supervision of District 20 of Toastmasters International which covers 7 Middle East countries – Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, and Bahrain. It consists of clubs with diverse backgrounds and unique cultural flavor. There are clubs that cater to various languages such as Arabic, Malayalam, and English. There are clubs that are classified as corporate and community. These clubs are further categorized into ( exclusive or closed ) and open clubs. The exclusive or closed clubs include those whose membership is limited only to a company’s employees or to a professional organization’s members. An open club, on the other hand, welcomes any individual from the community regardless of background, profession, race, belief, gender, etc. .

 

The Division executive committee adopted during their take off meeting the slogan of “Quest for Quality” as the division’s battle cry this Toastmasters year.  Explained by the Assistant Division Governor for Education and Training, Joseph Stanley: “Our strategy is to lead members back to the basics to help them appreciate the essence of quality training and growth.”
